TV Reality star is getting $4M from prenuptial agreement

It is sad to hear that any Colorado couple has decided on getting a divorce. However, it is hardly new to hear that couples in Hollywood are calling it quits. This is the case for reality television star Khloe Kardashian and NBA star Lamar Odom. Kardashian is reportedly getting over $4 million from the couple's prenuptial agreement.

The private life of a public couple is impossible to keep private in Hollywood. It is that much harder when one of the couple is a reality television star whose show is based on their family's daily life, good or bad. Unfortunately the formula of "The better the drama, the better shows ratings" does work in Hollywood. When Kardashian called her NBA player husband shortly after their fourth wedding anniversary, she advised him that she was filing for divorce and the announcement was going to be part of an upcoming episode of the show, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

When the couple got married, Odom had signed a $33 million deal with the LA Lakers and things were going well until, for reasons unknown, Odom began a downward spiral. This included him reportedly cheating on Kardashian and having an alleged crack cocaine addiction. Reports of a brief stint in rehab that was never completed and a DUI charge were enough for Kardashian. She is reportedly going to be receiving an impressive $ 500,000 for each year of marriage, plus an extra $2 million bonus for staying married for four years as part of the couple's prenuptial agreement.

As most Colorado couples may already know, marriages are usually considered to be a work in progress. They aren't necessarily easy, especially in the public eye. Having a prenuptial agreement in place when a couple has made the decision to get married may be a smart move. Unfortunately, when marriages fail and divorce is imminent, a prenup can protect both parties from a potentially messy divorce proceeding.
